Why should you trust me and what do I know? I feel it only fair that you know and understand where I’m coming from with my 40 plus years experience in the health and healing arts. First of all, there is nothing like hands-on experience and personal participation in the game of life.

I grew up in a family of 12, 6 boys and 6 girls. For the first 7 years of life, a hard cold floor was my bed in a one room shack. I was the second oldest. At 9 years of age, I dragged my 11 year old  dying sister off the road. Life’s a bitch but someone has to experience it!

That was a major turning point in my life. A minister told me God was punishing me for disobeying my mother. You could say being serious about life was an understatement. I was driven with a desire to have the what, where, why, and when answers to my existence.

My sister’s death forced us to move from the country to the city. That’s when my life really took a major turn. I hated school because the majority of the teachers didn’t understand my needs and impeded my growth. I soon learned that the older folks that had lived life had more of the answers I was looking for.

My thoughts became magnets and drew me to people who had the answers I was looking for. I became an avid student filled with a lust for their knowledge and experience. I developed an innate sense of knowing who really had the truth and who was just full of it.

At age 15 I was given a choice, go to a foster home or go to work. I chose work. At age 16, I helped start a Union to get better pay and working conditions. I was made Vice President and Grievance Agent for the Union and served for 4.5 years before leaving for other interests.

At age 17, I was trained on the job as a Registered Nurse in chronic care. I worked in cancer, diabetes, emphysema, and Tuberculosis. I made rounds with the doctors and those who saw that I had a keen desire to learn, taught me what they understood. It was a real awakening! I’ll get into some of those experiences in my posts because that was where I learned what pain and suffering really was.
